The author is a 43-year old Filipino residing in the United States. He works in retail and his main interests are art and music. He loves to draw and his favorite artists include van Gogh, Picasso, de Kooning, Pollock, Gorky, Rouault, Rembrandt, da Vinci, Cesar Legaspi, Edwin Sion, Jay Matternes, Chuck Close, Daniel E. Greene, Steven Assael, Brian Bolland and Eustaquio Pacot Jr. He loves calligraphy and his favorite script is uncial. He loves cartooning and he adores the works of Pat Oliphant, Bill Watterson, Jack Hamm, Prudencio “Dengcoy” Miel, Pol Medina Jr., and Jeff MacNelly. He is also a photography enthusiast who digs the works of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sebastiao Salgado and Steve McCurry. He is completely self-taught in art and believes his talent is a gift from God. He credits the support of his family as the key that helped nurture his artistic gift along the way. He likes listening to music and among his favorite singers/bands are The Beatles, Billy Joel, U2, The Police, Tears for Fears, Queen, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, John Coltrane, James Taylor, Juan dela Cruz Band, Stevie Wonder, John Mellencamp, Jon Gibson, Earl Klugh, Gary Valenciano, APO Hiking Society, Steven Curtis Chapman and Paul Williams (yeah, yeah, he knows…he’s old school!). His favorite color is green and his fastfood of choice is the ever calorie-rich cheeseburger (which is why he doesn’t have a “six-pack”)! He personally believes that art is therapeutic because it keeps him sane by keeping his emotions in check, his imagination at work, and his creativity alive!
