Here in the United States, we’re observing National Grandparents Day today. We celebrate it on the first Sunday of September after Labor Day (Labor Day is observed on the first Monday in September). There is even an official song for today’s celebration and it’s entitled “A Song For Grandma And Grandpa,” composed by Johnny Prill.

The National Grandparents Day has been in observance for only about thirty years here in the United States. And though not as well known and well practiced around the world as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations, it is just as important! After all, our grandparents are our parents’ parents. And honoring them is like honoring our parents already!

So today, I would like to honor my grandparents (my grandfather who I call “Lolo,” and my grandmother who I call “Lola”) by greeting them a very, very, very, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY GRANDPARENTS DAY!!! And while they both passed on from this world already, the memories of their love for all of us will always be in our hearts, and this same love we offer them as well!!! To all the grandparents on this planet:  HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY GRANDPARENTS DAY!!!

Incidentally, while we’re celebrating National Grandparents Day, we’re also celebrating my grandfather’s birthday today, September 7th! He would have turned eighty-eight today! So, Lolo, my shoutout goes to you wherever you are:  HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! WE LOVE YOU, AND GOD BE WITH YOU ALWAYS!!!
